SEO Process For Beginners

If you're new to SEO, this thread will teach you a simple process that's perfect for beginners

SEO = Search Engine Optimization

In other words, ranking higher on Google and getting more of that juicy traffic

Let's start ranking!

Overview:

1. Search keyword

2. Inspect competition

3. Inspect blog posts

4. Outdo competition

5. Create & publish

Let's look at each of these steps individually.

1a. Keyword:

SEO revolves around keywords.

Keyword = The words or phrase that someone types into Google

As you can imagine, some keywords are better than others.

✅ "fitness coach for online training"

❌ "what eye color do sheep have"

1b. Keyword:

A keyword is usually considered "good" if it can earn money.

Naturally, the best keywords have the most competition.

👉 So keyword research boils down to this:

+ Find a keyword with traffic that you could monetize

+ And has low competition

1c. Keyword:

There are tools that can tell you for every keyword:

+ Estimated traffic

+ Competition

There are many tools like this, but the one I use is called Jaaxy.

👉 Check the screenshot now...

That's what I get when I search for: "fitness coach for online training"

1d. Keyword:

You can use Jaaxy for free.

👉 All you have to do is create a FREE starter account on Wealthy Affiliate.

👉 While you're registered, I suggest you check out their video training too.

1e. Keyword:

Use Jaaxy to find 3 - 5 keywords.

🔎 Then head over to Google and search for it.

Now scroll to the very bottom of the page, where it says  "Searches related to..."

For our example keyword, check the screenshot below.

1f. Keyword:

You re-iterate this process until you found keywords that:

✍️ You can use the keyword in the title

💰 It attracts the right audience for you to sell to

Once you have 2-3 keywords, the hardest part is done!

Now it's time to inspect the competition 😈

2a. Competition:

Now we go back to Google and search for the keyword that we want to rank for.

❗️ Ignore the Ads, scroll past them.

Look at the organic results:

+ Do the titles contain the keyword?

+ What domain names are ranking? Are they huge websites, or small blogs?

2b. Competition:

✅ Look at the titles of the articles that are currently ranking. If they don't contain the keyword, that's a good sign.

✅ And look at the domain names. Is there are niche blog, or small website ranking on the first page? If so, then that's a good sign.

2c. Competition:

If you find one article ranking on the first page of Google:

+ Keyword not in title

+ Niche blog / small website ranking

Then you know that you have a shot at ranking here.

If you don't, then you go back to 1. Keyword Research, and repeat the process.

3a. Inspect Article:

Once you find a keyword with low competition, it is now time to inspect the article and see what they did.

This is what you'll look for:

+ Word count

+ Subheadings

+ Comments

+ Lists

+ Media

+ Formatting

+ Speed

Super easy to do, I'll show you how.

3b. Inspect Article:

👉 Word Count: Highlight the whole article, then copy-paste it into wordcounter.net

It will tell you the total number of words. Write it down.

👉 Subheadings: Count how many subheadings the article has.

3c. Inspect Article:

👉 Comments: Check the comments section. Are there any questions that weren't answered in the article?

Write them down, these are new subheadings for your article.

👉 Lists: Does the article use lists? How many and for what topics?

3d. Inspect Article:

👉 Media: Are there images in the article? How many? Also check if there are any videos embedded.

👉 Formatting: How is the article formatted? Things to notice are: Bold, italics, coloring, etc.

If it is easy to scan-read, then it's well formatted.

3e. Inspect Article:

👉 Speed: Finally, check the speed of the site. Does it load up instantly, or does it take time to load?

Your site should load as fast as possible anyways...

But if this article is loading slowly, it's an even better sign for you.

4. Do It Better:

Make an article that's BETTER than your competition 😈

👉 Did they write 1'500 words? Then you write 2'000!

👉 Does it have 6 subheadings? Then you do 7 or 8!

👉 Is the formatting good? Copy it!

👉 What's in the lists? Make them better!

5. Create & Publish:

Once you know what your article needs to look like

👉 All that's left to do is create it and publish it.

One single blog post isn't going to cut it, though. You'll have to do this dozens of times.

But now you have a solid game plan! 🔥

Blogging is my favorite way to make money online:

+ Write articles

+ Get traffic

+ Insert affiliate links

+ Make money
