Writer/director ChloƩ Zhao, the brilliant mind behind 2017's The Rider, returns with her latest film Nomadland, starring Frances McDormand and looking at the life of a woman living out of her van after losing everything in the last big recession.

It's a poetic, beautiful and patient film from a filmmaker whose delicate storytelling feels unique in the current cinematic landscape. So, of course, her next movie after this is in the MCU, with next year's Eternals, and I cannot begin to even imagine how much her talents will be wasted there. But just how good is this one?
